for a team that hasn't trained since april, i must say, you guys are really pretty amazing (:
this is to say thanks for everything since the start of touch last year. i don't know about you, but for me, it's been a brilliant one and a half and a bit more years. i couldn't ask for a better team, and i'm glad that the people who stayed active are you lot.

i've probably never told all of you this, but personally, it's you that has made my RJ experience worth it. All the shiz and stuff has been made tolerable because I know I start my morning with yall at the touch table and end my day on the field with yall. I know yona will probably stick her tongue out in disgust and say something horrible and make me laugh in response to this, because it sounds corny, but it is true okay. Everytime someone asks if I regret coming to RJ, i would so much like to say yes, but i think of yall and i say yes and no. no because if i didn't come, i wouldn't have met yall and wouldn't have found a team like that, more focused on welfare and family than killing each other on the field.

i'm thankful that you chose me to captain yall because its been a great ride. ups and downs yes, but its made me come to appreciate yall a lot more and even though yall always laugh at me when i'm actually being serious, i know yall will never leave each other alone on field. thanks friends, for your support and respect, and for giving me a place i really belong and a place where i can be me. and even though you still don't know the team vision for this year, which made me and ame very sad, (it's T.R.Y - technique, rapport and you), we still love you guys and its heartwarming to know that at least some still remember the Y, which means we've made this place a place you can look back on and smile.

i wouldn't give up raffles touch 09 for anything, all the fun and mud, omg do you remember how derel made us jumpball at the start of training at the swamp and only andrea was clean cos she came late, and how derel forced us to run 4k in 25min, and how we had 2.4 every before every training, and how we sang 'its been a long time, since we first met you...' and the juno song for derel and khai, and how we won first place for derel and ms chan at m1 round 3 on teachers day, and how we got accustomed to caleb and can horse around with him now and really appreciate him too, and how we bake under the sun and call everyone except ourselves black (yes thats you liting and ger hahaha) and how we played the most violent game of rugby captains ball during camp, and how proud we feel when we wear our batch jersey...

i know i'll always be here for yall, and i will always play my heart out for yall (:

on a much lighter note, i really had fun yesterday and i was also very touched when you all tried to cover for me even though yall were already very tired cos i got my head smashed twice and wasn't very much use to yall for a while. thanks friends.

Thanks for all the loveee my friends. If you are wondering (you better be hahaha), I'm doing fine! :) Won't be coming around the Touch table in the mornings till I can walk without my crutches, so I'll see you guys around school yea?

Train hard guys. It's really the last stretch for us together as a team. I hope you guys make the best out of the remaining month so or, take joy in every training, every match. Give it your all and stick it out for each other. It may all be over before you know it, in the most abrupt way. (Trust me on this) But if you know you gave it your all, tried your hardest and can walk away from it all with no regrets, then you know you've made the best out of the past year and a half.

So make every training count guys.

The next time Caleb or Derrick gives us PT, jump for joy and rejoice ok? Hahaha easy for me to say right. Do it together and do it for each other. It'll make everything worth it :)

Touch might be over for me, physically. But it will never ever die within me, within us. I already miss playing with you guys so much, I swear thinking about it drives me insane. I promise to be your cheerleader/ water person/ food person/ whatever, at our next game ok? Hahaha.

thought it might encourage you guys and lift your morale and spirits (keep your heads up!)

i also heard about your game with MI yesterday. didn't go too well? don't worry too much about trying to win or put in the tries cos that's when everything will fall apart cos everyone will be trying stuff on their own. concentrate on team play, and the tries will take care of themselves k? rem what the policies are on defense and attack.on attack: to keep driving the ball forward, and swing the ball to space when you're at the opp 5m. do your set moves like arrow, chinchow, mango and mango splits. also, as a form of aggressive defense, ball must stay alive for all 6 touches.on defense: squeeze and always be alert for the cover defense. keep talking and moving back -concede the ground, but not the try.

A friend once told me something and made me think about what a team means, and i hope you will give it some thought too,

There are days where we can't pass well
days when we can
days when we can't throw a switch pass properly
days when we can
days when we die on the field, breathless and let our man through
days when we're in shape
days when we don't hit gaps and hit faces
days when we're on fire
days when we can even score tries

we may not pull moves off brilliantly everyday, or feel at our fittest everyday
but everyday we can work hard, and we've got everyday to work hard.

and friends, i just want yall to know, that i may sometimes push the team a bit harder to the extent where it gets on your nerves and seeing me along the corridors makes you wanna turn and go the other way, but we all need to work hard individually to push on together. that's what a team means to me, individual responsibility for the team (:
so as training starts again tomorrow, and trials on thursday, and J1s coming in next week, let's get up and do our best, because we are capable of so much more - that means trying our utmost best to come for PT, putting in 200% at trainings with caleb, and even post-training and loving the team and the game okay (:

hey teammates ((:!

im feeling so tired and burnt out and lousy after today's training!
i wonder how you guys are feeling!

well i was just thinking. about the year ahead.. we've got touch, a levels, and other commitments (council maybe, church maybe, friendships maybe, boy friends maybe, like i dunno.. haha!) to work for. and just how much effort are we willing to put into each/whether we are able to sustain our efforts and energy in each, is a big question mark.

well, obviously we can't do 100% in each.

that would be superb, but inhuman.

and i do feel overwhelmed with such big tasks ahead of me that im so afraid to face it. but i take comfort in afew facts:
1. i've got you guys! so im not alone!
2. things will be okay if i were to take one step at a time (i hope! haha).

like punching up, we always take it one touch at a time to gain ground.

okay maybe that was a bad analogy haha.

alright you guys must be wondering why im blogging this! i just really wanna share my personal wish for us..

we probably have our reservations and as we're all different, we probably have different priorities.

but since this is our last year, i really hope we can make this thing in common that we have, TOUCH, and TOUCH BATCH 09 TO BE EXACT, something we'll all be fond of when we look back when we all graduate.. have a job.. work at a big mnc... become an mp... marry have kids.. grow old.. , etc.. hahahaha okay you get the idea.

so even though at training, we have to focus and be serious at improving ourselves, i hope we can all remember to laugh and remember we're playing with our teammates, our friends for -insert how mnay years- who are none other than human beings like ourselves... we are totally not playing with robots of our personal ideals.

taking into account that, let's all just try our best shall we? if we only have 100% to give, and we only can manage a 60%, 60% multiplied by so many of us would be more than 100%. and then other peoples' 60% can influence my 60% and in the end by complementing, we would get 100% and more than that. ALRIGHT NOT MAKING SNESE? i just wanna say.. as long as we are a team, and we work for our common goal, the results would be fulfilling, and most importantly, without regrets.

i don't know if what im saying will have any impact at all... i figured it was worth a try anyway.
so yeah! that was my personal wish for touch!

i believe that when one tries her best, and faces his/her fears, he/she can go beyond what he/she initially thought he/she could do.

like in the beginning of last year, i just looked at the track and i was like 'i can't imagine myself doing this.' but then look at me now. the field and the mud is like my physical home, and you guys are my emotional pillars. hahaha.

and bedyond myself, let's take a lookd at ourselves. look at how much we've grown thus far, (more muscular, tanner, rugged, emotionally stronger etc) from the innocent and extremely 'raw' players we were last year. okay maybe we aint that novice or whatever now anyway, but talking relativity la, yeah.

Stamina

Junk food may make one feel replenished and full of energy after the meal, but in actual fact, the consumption of junk food will highly affect one's stamina. Instead of consuming junk food, pick rather a healthier diet of fruit and vegetables, which helps to improve stamina in the long run.

I thought junk food only made us fat. haha. ohhh well. no wonder the canoeists eat at the yong tau foo stall everyday. hahaha.

you know, i just saw our j3s' blog and its still alive. come on come on let's keep this alive too!
i just told liting, rachel has mae it her mission to keep us close okay, even after we graduate (okay,a bit early to say, but i tell you, the signs will start to show some time next year) and all of you shld too!

Once upon a time, there lived an elephant named casper. casper lived in the clouds, but cos casper was always so heavy, casper always broke the clouds and made it rain and caused floods.

no one liked casper. they thought casper was stupid. everywhere casper caused floods people yelled at him and got really mad. so then casper was really sad, and he was convinced that he was stupid too.

but one day, casper was walking along the clouds and he stayed too long on one cloud, and he broke it, and it rained.

but this time, he heard shouts of joy. curious, he looked down and saw people dancing and laughing, praising the rain. for the first time in his life, casper felt like he was appreciated.

so see, sometimes we just need the right time to use our talents. no one's stupid, we just need to discover ourselves and how much we can really do - we all just need that one right moment (:

for casper broke the cloud over a drought area where people were dying of famine cos there hadn't been rain for the past few years.

from then on, casper always broke clouds over dry areas, fully harnessing the ability he had :D

I like this story, and since training for our new season has just started, I thought I would share this with all of you!

Horror gripped the heart of the World War I soldier as he saw his lifelong friend fall in battle. Caught in a trench with continuous gunfire whizzing over his head, the soldier asked his lieutenant if he might go out into the "No Man's Land" between the trenches to bring his fallen comrade back.
"You can go," said the Lieutenant, "but I don't think it will be worth it. Your friend is probably dead and you may throw your own life away." The Lieutenant's words didn't matter, and the soldier went anyway.
Miraculously he managed to reach his friend, hoist him onto his shoulder, and bring him back to their company's trench. As the two of them tumbled in together to the bottom of the trench, the officer checked the wounded soldier, then looked kindly at his friend. "I told you it wouldn't be worth sacrificing it," he said. "Your friend is dead, and you are mortally wounded."
"It was worth it, though, sir," the soldier said.
"What do you mean?" responded the Lieutenant. "Your friend is dead!"
"Yes sir," the private answered. "But it was worth it because when I got to him, he was still alive, and I had the satisfaction of hearing him say, `Jim, I knew you'd come."

Now now, when we're on field, no one else will come running to save you, cover for you, except your friends, your teammates. Don't forget what our team goes by - defence will win us the game, so keep it up guys!

Keep coming for training and train hard, we'll go far next year, together.

then we can sit at the breakwaters and enjoy the breeze, and then we can write our hopes and dreams in bottles and set it out into the ocean! or if we don't wanna litter, we can put our hopes and dreams into balloons and let it fly away into the sky! 10 years later, hopefully the balloon scraps will not have the proper escape velocity to enter into outer space, but fall back onto our laps! then we can check whether our hopes and dreams have been accomplished! :D either that, or we can keep a carbon copy of our hopes and dreams with our teammates who will then blah blah blah blah blah i talk so much!

I'm really proud of the way the team played together today, though we started off slow and took some time to warm up to the tournament, I'm really proud that we came back strong even though we were 2nd of our pool after preliminaries, diving hard and defending like a team with NO HOLES during SAJC's match that put us through to cup finals, and then again, against ACS Intl during cup finals though we drew with them in the pool round.
I'm just proud of be part of this team, and we've come a long way

but then, let's always remember never to be complacent with this, and to continue to grow and im,prove as a team to become even better, even greater so that people'll recognise our black and gold batch and be afraid. okay (:

hey team!
just wanted to say i'm really proud of those who played on saturday and the team in general. for being the funkiest ever. especially those who played sudden death, you guys were just fantastic, down to three v three against and j2 nj team, you guys really did put in a strong fight and for that i'm just so proud of you! sorry no photos because my camera was hiding in my bag on saturday ame and yijie have taken more than enough anyway
i'll be leaving for cambridge on tuesday, which means i'll be missing a solid two weeks of training. with fitness starting, i'm super scared for both you guys and myself[ scared that derel will like murder all of you while i m gone, and scared that when i come back you ll see a ball not oval but A BIG ROUND NEOWEILIBALL:P] but while i'm not there, i hope that you guys will push damn hard for training and never give up. even if the going gets tough because what doesnt kill us only makes us stronger. and i have faith in all of you!
